'If a jobs worth doing its worth doing well' ....is a mantra that has been instilled in me by my parents from as soon as i can remember...its probably this that keeps me going back to the same place until im completely satisfied with the end results

Although there is always better no matter how well you do....

I have just got an adapter ring for my tilt shift lens which enables me to use filters with it for the first time. So knowing i had to go back to Becky Falls to get a shot i'd taken previously that ended up blurred i went out with the mission of taking more time over my shots and playing around with my tilt shift lens more.

I very rarely go into the faff around of setting up an image in my descriptions as i find it boring but this time ...im going to bore you.

The above shot took a fair amount of time to set, its 3/4 of an hours drive from me and then a £6.50 entrance fee to go to this particular part of the river.

I knew from previous visits i wanted to get lower down the river than the falls that most photograph, i also wanted to use my tilt shift and new tripod.

The danger with getting yourself into a position like this is that these rocks are very slippery....so having spent far too much on replacing broken and drowned camera gear this year i worked very slow and methodically.

The first thing is to set the tripod up in a manner that will prevent any movement whatsoever, i usually hang my bag of it if theres enough room underneath.

In this instance the tripod was to low, i positioned the camera and tripod. I adjusted the vertical plane of the lens to give more depth to the shot and then checked the plane of the lens to the left and right to determine the composition when the three shots i was due to take would be blended. I then placed a 0.9 glass Lee nd filter to slow the shutter speed.

I took the first shot which was the central shot of the composition then adjusted the tilt shift lens to effectively pan to the left and right. i'd determined exposure from previous shots.

The raw files were then edited in lightroom saved as tiffs and then opened in photoshop CS3. I mereged the files with photomerge with perspective checked. i flattened the files adjusted levels, got rid of dust spots adjusted saturation and curves ...violla
