mustard gas by sassaputzin mustard gas by sassaputzin
some pretty intense direct sunlight and a heavy sky this made for a challenging shot.
I shot frames with the foreground exposed at single exposure stops with my finger covering the sun and so reducing the chances of flare.
i used a lee three stop grad and a single stop soft grad reversed and shot exposures to cover the range in the sky.
edited in lightroom then blended in photoshop.

Love the light and the composition in this Stephen...I am not going to enter the debate about saturation, that's your choice. I wasn't there, and also it is ART and everbody has an opinion....great shot.

Nice work Steve, great atmosphere and colour if I do say but a tad oversaturated for me too. I need to find myself a dartmoor tree soon...

wow, i'd say it was very much worth the effort, it looks like you've been able to represent the scene like you saw it. that's an achievement i often struggle at...
epic in every way, well done steve!

I wouldnt though, this HAS been saturated and, if it was uber colourful then you shouldnt have saturated it at all.

The colour around the sun is pretty much as saturated as you can get, the red channel is completely blown. Even if you havent saturated this (and youd really struggle to convince me given how many times I have shot into the sun) then you should consider desaturating it. The 'in your face colour' just detracts from the really nice part of the image, which is the right hand side.

I do think this is a really nice shot, but the level of saturation is too much.

And the thing is, after all of the processing you did, plus taking different shots, the end result probably looks exactly like what your eye saw. This is beautiful work. The colors are just wonderful.
