Shot on devons north coast on a brooding july evening.
The intention here was to create two jigsaw pieces fitting into each other, in truth the compostion is a little too 'tight' in the distance but i was unable to shoot a different composition due to the terrain.
I love the colors and composition of this picture. It's a more subtle one.
I have a technical question: would you, given you have a choice, use a smaller aperture with a kit lens in situations like this? I read with apertures higher than f/9 one gets softer images. I don't know if that applies to your Canon or your lens, too.
Will have to disagree w/ alex...as the comp is pretty solid. Love the play of the puzzle pieces as you put it...2 inches to the left would have given more space...perhaps a horizontal attachment that you can extend on your tripod (not sure which you have). With better light this would sing.
thanks for your input, its all to easy to say isnt it 2 inches to the left.....i would have been at the bottom of the hill, this composition took ages to set up..
Haha...yes good point..but some tripods have the center column which can go horizontal and extend out so you wouldnt have had to move. I've shot veritcally down waterfalls like this before (see "el tigre"). Very good effort though and thanks for the reply!
