Just wanted to get this in for Alexs little challenge before its too late. I gotta admit i got lucky and he picked the perfect time to ask for refractions as ive seen loads of rainbows this week, but you gotta be out there to get lucky ....and i was.

This is a shot of three cliffs bay on the gower peninsula (spot the three cliffs) it was voted one of the best views in the country by a recent television series.

I went there (or at least near there) to pick up my sea kayak.....so i went up the night before to hopefully get a shot of the sunset on the gower knowing the tide was at its lowest at nine thirty.

I knew the spot i wanted to head to so drove like a bat out of hell (within the speed limit of course:D) the 150miles it is from my house to arrive at 9.25pm....just in time to get a shot of worms head. I parked up rode my bike the mile down to worms head with the dog sprinting beside me, got down into position looked around and the light was pants, i didnt shoot a shot......proof that im not always lucky.

Next day i cycled around the gower in the morning picked up my kayak in the afternoon (shes a beaut) and then went back to the gower. by now it was chucking it down and i was begining to think photography was out the window. I ate at one of the best restaurants in the area which is a short walk from this place....afterwards i went to see what the light was like at three cliffs bay...

I started taking shots further back and it wasnt till i got to this position the bottom half of the rainbow revealed itself....

i shot off various different compositions before it disappeared after about 5mins....

I may well go through other compositions and submit a different shot in the future

You'll all gits with your sea kayaks.... I have wanted one for years and live nowhere near the sea and have no one who feels the same about as I do about getting my exercise strapped to a canoe off the coast of Britain.....
I'll comment on the image when I have got over the initial feeling of loss that your poncey Kayak has left me with.... :(

Light waits for no man. You're either out there, or you miss it. Forever.

You're lucky that you can bring your dog on shoots with you they make great company. When I got my dog I had hoped that I could bring her with me when I go photographing and backpacking but she is always getting in the way. She is always looking around to see what's going on so she is constantly in the frame or getting herself into trouble or worst of all putting her nose right on the lens. I hate leaving here at home when shooting but I have no choice.

worst title ever!!!!! i wanted to call it 'diffracted refraction reflected'... but you cant put that many characters in so i bunched em up....i'll change it when alexs challenge is over.....what would you like me to call it juha?;)
:rofl;....that made me smile....leo is always in the way!!!....i've lost cameras twice because ive left them standing on tripods whilst i remove the dog from frame.....only to turn around and see my camera blow over!!

if you think about it they just mimic what you do and always want to be center of attention thats why they put themselves directly where your facing......so its hard to be annoyed with them.....a
