combestone sundown by sassaputzin combestone sundown by sassaputzin
This is a re edit of what seems a very old shot from 2008. I thought it was submitted here but don't see it so thought it worthy of an inclusion even though the foreground is a little heavy.
This was shot with a canon 30d and sigma 10-22mm lens and the difference in application of editing from my current camera and lenses was stark.
The main effect was just a need to increase contrast (particularly) vibrance, saturation and sharpening much more than i ordinarily would to achieve the desired result

Interesting to hear about the difference of your experience with these two cameras and lenses used.

yeah logical i guess, poorer quality glass in particular needs compensation

With compensation do you also mean reducing noise etc?. To me, it seems I don't have any lens for which I don't have to use noise reduction quite a bit if I use the RAW file. But I am not sure if it would be considerably better with a lens like the Nikon f/2.8 80-200 to name a prime lens.

prime lens have a fixed focal length so an 80-200 is not a prime, and to answer your question the quality of a prime les stands out...

I think you are right. However, a friend of mine who had access to an 80-200 told me about the huge difference it made compared to a zoom like 18-105 mm, and she uses a Nikon D300.
