That is pretty darn amazing. The weird colors and the great lighting behind the cliff and on the water.

Some of the best are works of art are completely natural... it's so amazing to look at this and know that it's an actual place, that you can walk around in, and not a dreamscape....

Definitely more eye catching, and the levels seem to look good too. I think its a well processed image but not overdone. Nicely done

Well, I think the light in this shot is awesome, and I love the composition...it reminds me of the shot on the front of "First Light" by Joe Cornish. This looks like storm light, which is always beautiful.

It seems as though everyone has to mention the way the cliffs appear, and if you say it's not processed then I believe you...I know that when people think I've done something to a shot and I haven't, it bugs the hell out of me :-)

When I first saw this shot, I thought that you'd placed a filter along the waterline, which would have left you with a darker cliff face, and I thought you'd burned the cliff face to bring it back into line with the rest of the exposure..and perhaps brightened the sky a little where it touches the cliffs with the brush.
It's a technique I've done before on shots where I've had to cover cliffs with a filter (haven't submitted I can show you as examples)...and I guess because sometimes I've seen that effect, I assumed that's what you'd done.

But, whatever, it's a great shot and it really arrested me when I saw it....it's a pity about the discussion, and a pity you have to defend your work...which makes me look like a dick for contributing to the debate :-/

thanks for your input andy ..i value your opinion.....flattered you compare this shot to one of joe cornish's firstly...your right the light was fantastic(i have a very beautiful shot to come) very stormy indeed.

As far as the cliffs...im confused myself tbh....this shot is an exposure blend but the two exposures are not that far apart...and i know there is no halo.....i have just submitted another version of this shot from a single RAW file to prove the poijt that there was a slight glow around the cliff.....and to prove its not hideously processed as some beleive......so i'd appreciate your input on that to..

i have used a circular polariser for this shot and nothing else....i find i need to take shots so quickly i dont have time to faff about with filters...the light changes by the second...

your last sentence made me smile...:)

Is there any photo that you submitt that hasnt become some big debate?

I think there is some processing issues here but not on the cliff face but the darkening of the sky it seems. If not then its a beautifly lit landscape. Great shot nonetheless

alex doesnt trust me basically....he also sees halos everywhere and tends to not look closely enough....it is a very contrasty shot as thats what i wanted i could submit another but trying to keep everyone happy is nigh on impossible...i suppose art that provokes debate should be considered good art...or at least thats what i tell myself....

Yea but its about keeping yourself happy with your work not what everyone else wants it to look like, and anyway everyone does like your work the only one that will never be happy is 'you know who'

Very cool shot steve. Two comments, firstly, I dont think you eneded to recover as much as you did in the cliff/ foreground (I think the two exposures are a little far apart). Also the white balance looks a tiny bit too warm. Those are both minor points really. I think this is one of your best.

the cliff was very well illuminated as it faced the setting sun directly...tiny bit warm maybe.......what exposure blend??
